Tom Hackett is a legend

Wow what a chat we had today! I have always wanted to know what art my lecturers make behind the scenes and today Tom shared that with us as a group. He shared his art journey from his young scoundrel days. Sneaking into art colleges to teach himself, avoiding actually signing up and paying for the course, found a space and started creating. Breaking rules while looking like a main boss from The Lost Boys? Go on!! I felt inspired by the creative craziness, no care for others opinions, he likes to express his art and brain thought processes fully! You will be involved and immersed before you've even realised it. Whether its shouting about his passions in the streets with a loud megaphone, asking you questions in brightly fun coloured suits while pushing paraphernalia in a wheelbarrow, sailing down rivers and upsetting mundane fisherman or jumping into creative installations in an abundance of museums and galleries. This was so much fun and a beautiful insight as to who is not only teaching me art but encouraging me to open my mind and embrace those crazy ideas of creation and not being afraid to experiment with 'out there' ideas and processes. Art is our expression, it is important regardless of outcome, the world needs art.

Tom Hackett is a legend and wears the best shirts that definitely match his colourful creative inspiring craziness.

This chaos makes so much sense.

ha! a depressed bingo caller? brilliant Tom.

This felt like Monty python vibes.

The silicone boys I think is my favourite. I love the bold colours but even then they are still creepy to me and i enjoy creepy. It reminds me of a old doll collection i had when i was a teenager. i never asked for these percaline dolls i was given as gifts at birthdays and Christmases yet that's what i was given. They stayed in a cupboard for most of there life, hidden from sight until one day my younger, even more disturbed sister found them, took them outside to our patio in the back yard and smashed them all up. i wish i had taken a photo of that scene back then. broken doll parts and partial face pieces scattered everywhere with my sister dancing around them cackling.
